What Data We Collect
Anonymous analytics
We collect anonymised data through Google Analytics (GA4), including pages visited, approximate location (country/region), device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. This data is aggregated and not linked to any individual.
Contact and submission forms
If you submit a business listing or correction via our directory forms, we collect your name and email address. This is used to process your submission and respond to you.
Tools page account (optional)
The tools page at buriram.live/tools/ offers an optional Google Sign-In. If you sign in, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account, and store any dates or preferences you enter into the tools (such as visa dates or location preferences). This data is stored securely in Cloudflare’s Key-Value storage and is used solely to sync your tools data across devices and send you reminders you have requested.
Signing in is entirely optional. All tools work without an account using your browser’s local storage, which stays on your device and is never sent to us.
Mailing list
If you opt in to our mailing list — via a form submission, the tools page sign-in, or the signup box at the end of our articles — we add your name (where you give one) and email address to our mailing list, managed by EmailOctopus. If you sign up through the box on our articles, we first email you a link to confirm, and you are not added until you click it. To stop abuse of that form, we keep a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address for one hour, then it is deleted automatically. We use this to send updates about Buriram and Northeast Thailand, and (if you have enabled reminders on the tools page) immigration deadline reminders.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly.
Cookies
This site uses cookies — small text files stored on your device:
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics/GA4) — anonymised usage data as described above
- Functionality cookies (WordPress) — technical cookies required for the site to work correctly
- Link click cookies — when you click one of our booking or product links, a first-party cookie is set so we can count how often each link is used and avoid counting the same click twice. IP addresses are anonymised before they are stored, and click records are deleted after 12 months.
- Local storage — the tools page stores your preferences and dates in your browser’s local storage. This data stays on your device unless you sign in, at which point it is synced to your account.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use the site.
Affiliate Links
This site contains affiliate links to travel, accommodation, financial services, insurance, and software products. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase or booking, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

- Object — object to us processing your data for marketing purposes
- Withdraw consent — unsubscribe from the mailing list at any time

How to Delete Your Data
Tools page account: Email [email protected] with the subject “Delete my tools account”. We will remove your account and all associated data from Cloudflare storage within 7 days.
Mailing list: Use the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or contact us directly.
Form submissions: Contact us and we will remove your details from our records.
Data Retention
- Google Analytics: 14 months, then automatically deleted by Google
- Tools account data (Cloudflare KV): Retained until you delete your account
- Mailing list (EmailOctopus): Retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion
- Form submissions: Retained in WordPress for up to 12 months, then deleted
- Link click records: 12 months, with IP addresses anonymised, then automatically deleted
